Valley National Bank: History
The Valley National Bank was founded in the year 1927. At that point in time, its name was the Passaic Park Trust Company. It was only around the year 1930 that the name of the bank was changed to Bank of Passaic and Trust Company. After procurement of the Bank of Wayne in 1976, the bank was given the current name i.e. Valley National Bank.
The bank also acquired the Bankers National Bank in 1977. In 1981 and 1982 there was acquisition of Liberty National Bank and Fair Lawn State Bank respectively. Also, there was formation of the Valley National Bancorp in 1983. In 1989, the chief executive officer and chairman of the company i.e. Samuel F. Riskin retired. He was appointed in the year 1953.
