A bank holding company called First Citizens Bancshares, Incorporated operates or handles the First Citizens Bank. The company is headquartered in Raleigh which is a capital city of North Carolina. First Citizens bank is operational in 18 different states and also the District of Columbia that is part of the United States of America. It is mainly concentrated in the Washington, South California, and the Southern United States.
Soon after the announcement of a big merger in the month of July for the year 2014, the companies ranking was going to rise. First Citizens Bank was supposed to become the sixth largest bank in the South Eastern region with the number of branches reaching to 575. Its assets, deposits, and loans marking to 30.7, 26.1, and 18 billion dollars respectively.
First Citizens Bank has been serving clients in around 200 locales that have 571 branches. These branches are located in Maryland, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, California, District of Columbia, Georgia, Minnesota, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, Florida, Virginia, and West Virginia.
First Citizens Bank: History
In 1998, there was an agreement made between the First Citizens Bank and First Citizens Banks of South Carolina. The agreement ensured that either of these banks could conduct transactions with the other bank or institution. The bank filed a merger application with the federal regulators on 8th October 2010. This included the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Office of the Controller of the Currency and state banking departments in IronStone’s footprint. The IronStone Bank continued to work under its trade name until the official change on 7th January 2011.
First Citizens Bank entered into an agreement to purchase all the assets and majority of liabilities of United Western Bank. This agreement was made with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp on 21st January 2011. Months later it also took over the failed Colorado Capital Bank in a similar deal.It was on 1st October 2014 that the merger between the First Citizens and First Citizens Bank of South Carolina was completed. Before this merger, there were no branches of First Citizens in South Carolina. On 6th May 2016, the North Milwaukee State Bank of Milwaukee was taken over by the First Citizens and about &67.1 million assets were also purchased.
In May 2016, First Citizens purchased $103.3 million of assets by taking over the First CornerStone Bank. This bank was based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. In the year 2016, there was one more purchase and that was of Cordia Bancorp Incorporated that belongs to Midlothian, Virginia. This accounted for the purchase of $353.8 million in assets.
On 13th January 2017, the bank took over the Pennsville, New Jersey based-failed Harvest Community with assets of $126.4 million and four branches. First Citizens announced that it will take over Guaranty Bank that is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 5th May 2017. The assets purchased were estimated to $1 billion.
